Spaghetti Sauce

I love spaghetti.  I don't think there are very many who do not. It's kind of a classic.
This sauce is my absolute favorite. I like to serve it over spaghetti squash or zoodles.

Sicilian Spaghetti Sauce

1 lb ground beef*
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup water
2 (14.5 oz) cans petite tomatoes
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon honey**
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1-1/2 teaspoons sea salt
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup dried parsley
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon

Brown meat; drain grease and remove from pot. Add oil, onion, and garlic.  Saute' 5 minutes, until fragrant and onions are translucent. Return meat to pot.  Add water, tomatoes, tomato paste, honey, oregano, salt, basil, and pepper. Simmer uncovered for 3 hours over low heat. Stir in parsley and cinnamon the last 20 minutes of cooking.

*This recipe is also tasty without the beef.
**omit for whole 30
